Fire and Creation

 

​Fire is the most interesting element. There is nothing like fire. 
 

• Fire is the only element that was experienced by human after creation by striking two stones together and creating fire. 

 

• Fire is the only element that we can extend its amount while we cannot do the same with other elements. 

 

• Fire is the only element that goes against the gravity. It is always moving toward up!

It is said fire represents a soul because souls are the same way and desire to go up.That is why we light candles in the memory of our loved ones. 

It is important that a candle be of kosher oil or kosher materials because it is the "food" of the fire which represents the soul. Remember that it is not a "use" like buying a dress and use it. It is the food for the fire and you want to be sure it is made of kosher materials.

 

Although fire was experienced by man it is a part of creation, that is probably the reason Torah mentions about NOT creating fire on Shabbat!
